Starting From Scratch
This is turning out to be the most challenging area I've worked in, but also one of the most exciting. Ali and I are in a mission church plant in the truest sense of the word. Our team of locals consist of the pastor, his wife, and his nine children. Oh, and that's the same folks who make up the congregation. But wait there's more, the pastors wife, Segunda, can't work too long because it takes so long to prepare meals. (No fridge in the house and she has to borrow propane to cook.)
The "church" (shown above) is four months old and really what we have is a pastor with a huge heart and desire to plant this new church, and not a whole lot else. I'm loving this huge challenge the Lord has placed before our team. There is no mother church, no team of locals helping the pastor. It's us and our translators. What this means is that this church, as it grows, will begin with all baby believers. The pastor really has his work cut out for him. His name is Angel (ahng-hel) and he needs not angels, but divine help.Ali
Ali shared with a woman (Carla) that she came all the way from the U.S. to Bolivia just to tell her God loves her and Jesus can take away her sins. When Carla heard this, she broke into tears that Jesus led Ali to come all this way--and not Disneyworld (many latin Americans' dream trip) Then Carla prayed to accept Christ.
Tonight Carla showed up at our worship service and Ali got to hold a little, women's bible study for new believers.

Mike and Ali,
It is amazing to see the pictures and hear what went on just yesterday. Thank you for letting us share in this. We are shraring all of this with Benson and Brooke and faithfully praying for you. May the Spirit work abundantly as you make yourselves available to Him. We love you, The Moores
Ali & Mike:
God is with you and you are the light others are seeking out. God's Word will grow in their hearts and with God as their guide, will reach their community.
We will start praying for this pastor and the people. How powerful Paul's letters will be to this church.
Love you,
Nana & Papa
Mike and Ali,
Amy and I will continue to pray for you both as the Lord works through your combined efforts in Sant Cruz, Bolivia. I will add Angel and his wife to the list of those from July 2005 (Sergio and Edwin, Miguel, Javier, Luis, Sylvia, and Claudia).
We send our love to everyone there in the grace and power of Jesus,
Amy and Nate (Red Oak)

It is good to hear from you guys. It is so awesome that you all are there to spread The Word to those people. The community looks very poor and I know it's a challange, a joy, and a true blessing daily. You are in our prayers everyday. Kristina is praying for you as well in Oklahoma.
God Bless you and your team.
Love
Melisa, Dan and Andrea Waters
So pleased to see the work you are doing and we'll continue to keep both of you in our prayers and hearts.
You might pass along to Ali, that Phil. 4:13 also says, "never underestimate the power of this woman" (Yeah, it works for the guys, too, of course)! Knowing our strength and power comes from Christ makes the impossible possible. What a blessing! (=^__^=)
We ask for God's richest blessings on you and your work.
Much love,
Darrel & Betsy
